Why
We wanted an intentional community, rather than a transactional space.
In the spring of 2012, a group of Houston Muslims (mostly African American converts) decided to get intentional about building community.
We wanted a community that was welcoming, safe and authentic. We wanted to cultivate a Prophetic community rooted in grace, love and service to humanity. We seek to be mindful of God and mindful of ourselves. We wanted to live a life of meaning and purpose while simultaneously reflecting who we are as American Muslims.
What do you do?
We welcome and facilitate. We provide a nurturing space for companionship, sacred learning, wellness and community service.
Who is Ibrahim?
Ibrahim is a prophet who is mentioned in our sacred text called The Qur’an. He is called Abraham in the Jewish and Christian faith traditions. The Prophet Ibrahim went through harsh struggle to arrive at a model of faith that worked for him and was subsequently pleasing to God.
